The 10 Biggest Challenges of Being a Penn Stater

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

As Penn State students, we all know we go to the best school in the world. Nothing compares to the energy of a packed stadium on game day, our quintessential college town and the magical aroma of pokeys after a long night out. But as with everything in life, nothing goes without a few occasional imperfections. Here are 10 challenges Penn Staters face on a daily basis.

1. When your food from OrderUp takes longer than ten minutes to arrive

I swear I ordered those teriyaki wings, like, years ago.

2. When you sprint to catch the Bloop for that class you have to make it to, only to barely miss it seconds later

I guess it just wasn’t meant to be today.

3. When that hike up Shortlidge each morning never really seems to get any easier

And neither does waking up for that 8 a.m. in general. It’s basically high school all over again.

4. When you’re drowning in schoolwork but the promise of cheap beer and Fratland is relentlessly calling your name

It’s called multitasking, and no college teaches you how to do it better than Penn State.

5. When you’re the one who gets cut off in the HUB lunch line

You’ve got to be kidding me.

6. When you move off campus and realize how far away you are from… well, just about everything

Sure, dorm life sucked — except when it was time to go work out, make the trip to Beaver Stadium on gameday or walk to pretty much anywhere on campus.

7. When you’re almost out of LionCash but there’s just too much awesome stuff to buy

Everyone knows you have to have a fanny pack for THON.

8. When you you’re looking a bit rough but you still manage to see someone you know everywhere you go

Come on, I thought we went to a huge school.

9. When you’re starting to feel like the collegiate life is just a little too much to handle

The stress is so real.

10. But then you realize you’ll eventually have to graduate and leave this amazing place, and suddenly, none of that matters anymore

Seriously, there’s no such thing as the “g-word”… right?

Though we all face some challenges, it always works out in the end. We do go to the best school in the world, after all.
