Everyone knows and loves some of the most famous brands started by celebrities today. Many celebrities have ventured out of their acting, singing, modeling and other careers to become entrepreneurs to continue spreading their name and their passions.
While most everyone is familiar with brands such as Skims by Kim Kardashian or R.E.M. Beauty by Ariana Grande, there are so many more that I am still discovering today. Many of these brands have the celebrities name built right into the name, like Kylie Cosmetics or Beats by Dre, but some are a little more inconspicuous.Ā
Thanks to the world of the internet (and mostly social media) I have recently been enlightened by some brands that I had no idea were founded or owned by some extremely well-known celebrities.Ā
Perhaps I am late to get the memos, as it admittedly took me a long time to find out that Rare Beauty was owned by the queen herself, Selena Gomez. Nonetheless, here are a few of my recently discovered brands that you too may not have known were celebrity owned.Ā
Beis
One of TikTokās many viral brands at the moment is Beis. These bags went viral due to their high quality material, creative storage design and aesthetic appearance.
However, it wasnāt until recently where I was scrolling on Instagram, only to come across an ad for Beis where I realized that it was founded and owned by Shay Mitchell.Ā
Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actress famously known by those in their 20s for her role in Pretty Little Liars. She started her line of sleek travel accessories back in 2018 and the brand rose in popularity after the pandemic, continuing to gain fans today.Ā
In an interview with Forbes, Mitchell stated the reason she started the line was due to her own frustrations that were offered by companies. As a celebrity she has to travel often, and was given the choice of either a stylish but impractical bag or one that had all the hi-tech functions without the look she was hoping for.Ā
Mitchell went on to co-found this company to create the exact travel bag she had been looking for, and people love them. They have been coined the āultimate travel essential,ā and itās true.
With rolling luggage bags, totes, and even a new line of Dopp Kits, she really hit the nail on the head with this brand.Ā
Fabletics
Since July of 2013, Fabletics has been spreading their name on social media. With the popular trends of active wear as a style, people have been loving the brand with their more affordable prices, and celebrity collaborations like Maddie Ziegler, Vanessa Hudgens and more.Ā
However, when I found out the brand was co-founded by Kate Hudson, I was shocked. Most of us have seen Kate Hudson in a movie at some point growing up, and she still acts today with a role in the movie “Glass Onion.” What I didn’t know was that this actress was busy with not only her acting career but Fabletics too.Ā
Hudson began the brand wishing to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for women, emphasizing affordability as well as quality. These features compared to more expensive athletic brands such as Lululemon or Set Active are important in promoting physical activity in all women, not just a certain demographic.Ā
People love this idea and Fabletics keeps surprising us with their recycled materials and celebrity collabs. Keep up the great work Kate!
CasamigosĀ
Last but not least is my favorite recent discovery ā Casamigos tequila was co-founded by the one and only George Clooney. Little did I know that one of my favorite brands of tequila was originally created by this well known actor.Ā
Launched in 2013, Clooney and his co-founders put the work in to perfect this tequila. After a few years with the company, it was sold to Diageo in 2017 for one billion dollars.
This tequila really is worth the hype and is loved for its high quality and slightly more affordable prices than other brands. Iāve been enjoying this product without even realizing who started it, making me love it even more!
I admire these celebrities as they casually build incredible business empires while the world gushes over their products, while many don’t even know it was from some of their favorite celebs. This makes it seem even more genuine that people truly do love the product and not just the endorsement of a celebrity.Ā
Each and every one of these celebrities have slayed the business world with their brands, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
