Giving Thanks for The Best Thanksgiving Foods

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

You’ve just finished cleaning the very last dish from your Thanksgiving meal with friends, family and your weird cousin. The L-Tryptophan from your turkey starts to hit you, and you slowly start to dream of the sandwich full of the best Thanksgiving leftovers you’re going to devour tomorrow afternoon.

So here it is: an unofficial official countdown of the best Thanksgiving foods:

7. Turkey

It’s not the best item on your table this Thanksgiving, but it makes for a wonderful centerpiece and tastes even better the next day.

6. Brussels Sprouts

This vegetable will add some color to your meal to not only make it more Instagram worthy, but also a little healthier. Their crunchy and savory taste will add a needed burst of flavor to your meal.

5. Rolls

Fresh out of the oven with a little butter spread on them, dinner rolls are just the beginning of your Thanksgiving feast. The best part is they taste delicious with everything on your plate.

4. Gravy

This is a necessary topping because it enhances the flavor of everything on your plate – mine always resembles a gravy mudslide.

3. Sweet Potatoes

These taste like a combination of dinner and dessert, which qualifies them as the perfect side dish for your Thanksgiving meal. Their sweet taste will entice you to go back for seconds.

2. Stuffing

Stuffing is one of the hallmarks of Thanksgiving foods. It gives your meal the right salty taste to enrich the taste of the other delectable Thanksgiving foods on your plate; it also tastes amazing on your sandwich of leftovers the next day.

1. Mashed Potatoes

Not only are mashed potatoes the greatest Thanksgiving food, they are the best food of all time. When cooked perfectly, they resemble a fluffy cloud that you can dream about as you fall asleep counting down the days until next Thanksgiving.

Christmas music may officially have started playing on the radio, but there is still time to enjoy your Thanksgiving leftovers, collegiettes!
