Julia Roberts is the queen of a romantic comedy. I grew up watching her movies, but now I realize that she just has one great movie after another. Since our queen has so many amazing movies, here are a few of my favorites for a girls night.

“My Best Friend’s Wedding” (1997)

I hope you don’t have a guy/girl platonic friendship because, sweetie, brace yourself.

Roberts’ character Julianna Potter and her childhood best friend Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney) made a promise that if they were both single by the time they were 28 they would marry each other. Just a week shy of the day she turns 28, Michael calls and tells her he is getting married to 20-year-old Kimmie (Cameron Diaz) that weekend.

Julianna now realizes she has feelings for “Her Michael,” so she is going to stop the wedding. This movie is one of my personal favorites, but for any girls with platonic friendships here’s a warning: it’s a tear-jerker.

“Pretty Women” (1990)

This one is a classic and a must-watch if you will. The outfits, the music and the chemistry between Roberts and Richard Gere make this movie iconic.

Roberts plays Vivian, a prostitute in Los Angeles. Gere plays Edward, the wealthy businessman who is in town for a work trip. When he meets Vivian, he pays her to stay for the whole weekend.

We get to see the couple fall for each other, but there are still obstacles they have to face before being together.

After watching Roberts’ shopping spree, you’ll be feeling like a girl boss and saying things like “Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.” “Pretty Women” has just the right amount of sexiness, and we get “Richard Gere in a tux,” just like Frank Ocean says. This movie has something for everyone.

“Runaway Bride” (1999)

Maggie Carpenter (Roberts) is infamous for leaving men at the altar. When big New York City journalist Graham (Gere) gets word of this, he labels her “The Runaway Bride.”

Maggie, who is engaged, reads this article and writes to his boss, which ends in his termination. Since he has nothing else to do but save his reputation, he heads to Maggie’s small hometown while preparations for her to head down the aisle once again are underway. Graham, of course, is trying to prove she will run again since is her fourth wedding.

This is a true romantic comedy that all the girls will enjoy.

“Steel Magnolias” (1989)

Grab the tissues and some blankets and cuddle up with your girls because this one is gonna leave you in tears.

I won’t go into detail about this one, but it’s about a group of small-town women who are best friends. Roberts’ character is one of the adult daughters who has complications from Type 1 diabetes.

After watching “Steel Magnolias,” you will appreciate all your female relationships more. Whether it’s a mother-daughter relationship or a friendship, you will hold them a little bit closer to your heart.

“Mystic Pizza” (1988)

“Mystic Pizza” is about three teenage girls who are, of course, best friends.  They live in a small town called Mystic and are all waitresses at Mystic Pizza. It’s the summer after high school, and they are all trying to find themselves and what they want to do with their lives and romance.

It truly is a coming-of-age film and it’s perfect for your girls night. It will definitely leave you and the girls reminiscing and feeling emotional.

Hope you and the girls have the best night and enjoy the movies!
