2022 was an amazing year for music; so many new artists rose to fame, new albums were released and many records were topped. 2023 is gearing up to be equally as great or even better than 2022 for music, partially because so many new artists are coming to the scene and so many great artists are finally gaining some recognition.

Here are the artists to watch for in 2023 year so you can say you listened to them before they blew up!

sophie holohan

Sophie Holohan, at only 20 years old, has a talent for writing powerful and emotional music. She recently released her EP, “The Space Between,” and her song, “butterfly effect – demo,” has gone viral on TikTok. Holohan is a powerhouse in the making.

Favorite Songs: “Cognitive Dissonance” and “Codependent”

Ella Jane debuted her music in 2020 and released her first album, “THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!,” in 2021. With a coming-of-age pop sound to her music and songs that you’ll want to listen to over and over again, Ella Jane is primed to be the next big thing.

Favorite Songs: “bored&blind” and “Sore Loser”

Sam macpherson

LA-based singer/songwriter, Sam MacPherson, writes honest music with a soulful delivery. MacPherson creates songs with a chill pop sound that every listener can relate to and connect with.

Favorite Songs: “Forget I Exist” and “How Do You Dress for the Rain?”

ReneƩ Rapp

After getting her start by winning Best Performance by an Actress at the 2018 Jimmy Awards, starring as Regina George in the Broadway musical “Mean Girls,” and starring as Leighton Murray in “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” ReneĆ© Rapp has finally released her first EP, “Everything to Everyone.”

Favorite Songs: “Too Well” and “Tattoos”

Recent Columbia University graduate, Maude Latour, is a rising pop artist who is working on a ton of new music for 2023. She recently released her EP, “001,” and her songs all have a “redefined pop” sound that will leave you wanting more.

Favorite Songs: “Walk Backwards and “Probabilities”

Jordy Searcy, after being coached on “The Voice” by Pharrell Williams in 2014, began to make his own path as a songwriter and vocalist. His music is authentic, original and emotional, and he doesn’t plan to stop making it anytime soon.

Favorite Songs: “Love & War in Your Twenties” and “Shoulda Been In A Band”

With an alternative rock/lo-fi/folk vibe to her music, Cain creates music that focuses on nostalgic and Southern gothic themes. With just one listen to one of her songs, you’ll be hooked.

Favorite Songs: “American Teenager” and “Crush”

They may only have a few songs out, but don’t let that deter you from listening to them on repeat. Seeing Double is a New York rock band with a style reminiscent of the feel-good pop-rock of the 70s. Once you listen to one song, you’ll never want to stop!

Favorite Songs: “Leah” and “Don’t Wait”

The Wrecks is a pop-punk band consisting of Nick Anderson, Aaron Kelley, Nick Schmidt and Billy Nally. After the release of their first single, “Favorite Liar,” in 2016, they’ve released so much music and have even opened for bands such as Paramore and The Driver Era on their tours. I’ve even seen them in person, and their music does not disappoint.

Favorite Songs: “Infinitely Ordinary” and “Normal”

Alternative/indie rock singer and songwriter, Samia, is an incredible lyricist who knows how to get right to your heart. You will not regret listening to her music and following her career.

Favorite Songs: “Triptych” and “As You Are”

All in all, these fantastic artists have created amazing music already and will continue to do so in 2023. As always, stay on the lookout for more artists that don’t have a huge following but great music, they could be something huge one day!
