With the Republican primaries well under-way, Americans all over can sense that election season is in the air. As crazy as it may seem, in less than a year we, as a nation, may be inaugurating a new president, or re-congratulating our current one on his second term.
Let’s face it, at some point we all get tired of hearing about the same issues, and hearing the same sound-bites from last night’s GOP debate. At some point, we want a little spice and a little flavor, and not from hearing of another political scandal. Instead, sometimes all we need is a different perspective.
While weighing in on both the positive and negative attributes of each candidate, we must not forget how equally important their counterpart is because, well, someday she may be our very own first lady.
Yes, our current, Michelle Obama, has received much love from citizens and praise from fashion critics for her timeless clothing choices, but who exactly is she up against?
Let’s take a look at these first-ladies in the making:
Carol
Paul- Carol and Ron Paul have shared a strong, 54-year marriage. She enjoys creating good, hearty, home-cooked meals for her beloved. In her late 70s, Carol Paul sports a more maternal feel in her fashion choices, usually opting for blazers or tops with shoulder pads. If anything, Carol is a woman of strong, American family values.
Ann
Romney- After being diagnosed with both multiple sclerosis and breast cancer, Ann Romney has developed a large compassion for those suffering from disease. Ann is a firm believe in marital values. She has quite the beautiful ‘do, sporting a great blonde color, layers, and a touchable texture. Ann is rarely seen without her pearls on and tends to choose classic tweed suits and jacket sets.
Callista
Gingrich- Callista favors music and the arts. She, herself, has been noted to sing in choir and play instruments such as the French horn. As Newt Gingrich’s third wife, Callista sports a blunt, blonde bob and tends to opt for more solid colors.
Karen
Santorum- As a mother of seven, Karen is definitely the “plain-jane” of the crew. But what she lacks in style, she makes up for in heart. Karen and her husband, Rick Santorum, have spoken out about losing a child, as well as having one with a disability. She sports a simple, brunette, shoulder-length cut and opts for comfortable choices, and with seven kids to take care of, who has time for anything else?
