With the recent crowning of Artist of the Decade, and the media attention surrounding her masters, Taylor Swift is just as relevant now as she was when she bursted into the music scene in 2006.Â
Â
The mess she is caught between regarding her previous record label & the men, who shall not be named, behind it is absolutely disgusting. But the way she is handling everything with such grace is something to be admired.Â
Â
I vividly remember where I was when I heard my first Taylor Swift song, and I have a precious memory attached to each one I’ve heard since. I have no doubt that she has achieved the same accomplishment as Carole King, by creating music that transcends throughout different phases of our lives.Â
Â
“Our Song” was the first song I ever heard by Swift, I remember I was in fourth grade, just nine years old, and here I am, freshly twenty-two– and there’s even a song to celebrate that! Taylor’s music has ALWAYS been a constant through the different phases of my life, and even down to my youngest sister’s life too. She has this ability to engage with an audience no matter who it’s made up of.Â
Â
There is no one more deserving of that award than Taylor Swift. I remember listening to “Fifteen” when I was walking into my first day of my freshman year of high school. SCREAMING “All Too Well” in the car with my sister on our way to anywhere. And even waking up on my 22nd birthday to my friends blasting “22” outside my door. She does, and always will, have the perfect song for any moment of your life.Â
Â
Each album she has created is a perfect representation of every chapter in our lives, and I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you Taylor for your constant humility and for always being a perfect role model for your fans. We can’t wait to see what the next decade has in store!Â
