It’s that time of the year again! After a long summer away from school, we have finally migrated back to the beautiful Happy Valley. Everything about this time of the year is exciting. Reuniting with friends, moving into a new apartment or dorm, meeting new people and starting new classes. And, as if that wasn’t enough, we are lucky to be able to enjoy it all under sunny skies and warm weather, which as Penn Staters, we know is something to cherish. Our warm days in State College are rare and numbered. In less than a month, it might already be time to say goodbye to all our cute summer shorts and dresses and say hello to scarves and sweaters. That is why here at HCPSU we are urging all Penn State girls to take advantage of this weather and wear all those cute summer outfits as much as possible before they must be stored away in a dusty drawer for the rest of the year. Show off those sun-kissed abs while they last! The crop top look is a trend that has been around for quite some time now and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Floral prints
Nothing screams “summer” louder than floral prints. Whether it is a skirt, a dress, a romper, or a simple t-shirt, if it has flowers on it, then wear it! All the major fashion designers, Dior, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana (just to name a few), used floral prints in their summer collections this year. Obviously, most of us won’t be wearing any of those brand names anytime soon. We are one week away from Labor Day and in the world of fashion that means only one thing: no more white. Take advantage of this week to wear all the white clothes you bought this summer. Bright nail polish
OPI and Essie both came out with very bright summer collections this year. The “Brights” by OPI collection has so much variety it is hard to pick just one color. They range from “Atomic Orange” to “Charged up Cherry”, to my personal favorite, “Gargantuan Green Grape”. Essie doesn’t fall behind on their brights either. With colors like “Funky LimeLight” (picture below) and “Braziliant”, it is hard to fathom how we’ll ever go back to dark colors in the winter.
Espadrille Wedges
The best kind of heels are the most comfortable ones, and the most comfortable ones are usually wedges. Wedges can be worn year-round, but the casual look of espadrille wedges make them an iconic look for summer. You can wear them with any of the other items on the list, a summer dress, white shorts, jeans, you name it!
