Drinking water is hard. I love iced tea, frappuccinos and soda more than anything – but drinking water, especially as a busy college student, is so important to your health and well-being. It keeps your skin clear, keeps you from being tired, and has tons of other benefits. So, here are some tips on how to keep yourself drinking water all day long:
Â
1. Buy a cute water bottle
Whether it’s your favorite color, a cute S’well bottle, or just something you really like, the outside of the bottle can make the inside more appealing. I found some super cute ones at Target and on Amazon.
2. Set a goal
Set how much water you should drink per day. Check in with your doctor to see how much you need on the daily, and try to find a bottle that holds that much or one where you can easily do the math to make sure you’re hitting that goal.
3. Always refill
The second you notice your bottle is getting close to the bottom, hit up that water fountain. The idea of crisp, cool, and clean water can make it that much more appetizing
4. Never leave without your water bottle
Sometimes you’re running late and can forget any number of things – don’t let your water bottle be one of them. Fill it up and stick it in your backpack first.
5. Drink water during at least two meals
Sometimes, you can’t deny that craving for something a little different; trust me, I know water is boring. Try to drink water during at least two of your meals, and if you’re craving something sweet, treat yourself a little.
6. Keep water by your bed
Always have a drink of water by your bed. Whether you wake up with dry mouth in the morning or need a sip before you fall asleep, you’ll be glad it’s there.
7. Only drink water while you’re studying
I need to follow this one myself. I down energy drinks and coffee by the gallon before an exam, but water can do some of the same job and is much better for you. You also won’t be as jittery and shaky.
8. Cover your bottle with stickers
Maybe your bottle is still kinda boring. Order some stickers! Cover up that plain outside with things that make you smile or laugh when you go for a drink.
9. Get an infuser
Plain water is boring. Get a bottle with a built in infuser and cut up some fruit to give your water some pizzazz.
10. Get friends involved
Turn your water-drinking into a challenge and have all of your friends drinking water together and see who can drink the most – in a healthy way, of course.
Keep your head up high, ladies – and remember to keep yourself hydrated so you can take on the world!
