Hey ladies, it’s almost Valentine’s Day! Now many people dread Valentine’s Day, but I have always adored it. It is a great way to celebrate the good things about love, whether that be to a significant other, friend, or family member. With that, I want to share something that I think is the most thoughtful gift: making someone a playlist. Here are your must-have tunes to say, “I love you.”
forever&more by ROLE MODEL
“forever&more” is one of the most romantic songs. Not only is ROLE MODEL one of the best up-and-coming artists, but it also helps his muse is one of Hollywood’s it-girls: Emma Chamberlain. This song helps portray their romance in a simple and meaningful way, but it also has an upbeat rhythm that genuinely makes you want to fall in love.
False God by Taylor Swift
“False God” is one of Swift’s steamier songs. It takes you on a journey of intense intimacy that only Swift can articulate without becoming too vulgar. “False God” is not one of her most famous songs, but I think it deserves more emphasis, especially around such a romantic holiday.
ROS by Mac Miller
Mac Miller’s ability to convey such an affectionate character in his work is truly amazing. This song is the perfect way to serenade your significant other, as it underscores the importance of paying attention in a relationship. In “ROS” he clearly states, “So gimme all your love /And I will be yours, through rain and through shine,” and nothing shows such a simple love like that.
Devil in a New Dress by Kayne West and featuring Rick Ross
Rest in Peace Kimye, but “Devil in a New Dress” is a fantastic nod to a ‘situationship.’ The song highlights the power of seduction that women have, which is important for women’s empowerment. This song definitely can make your Valentine’s a little bit sexier.
Video Games by Lana Del Rey
This song is the perfect song for the nerd in your life. Del Rey sings, “I say, “You the bestest”/ Lean in for a big kiss /Put his favorite perfume on /Go play your video game,” which is the best way to reference someone who may annoy you and play games in front of you. Del Rey’s voice is absolutely angelic, and this song can be very special as it pinpoints a niche interest.
You Right by Doja Cat and featuring the Weeknd
Combining the raw sex appeal of both Doja and the Weeknd is a lethal mixture. “You Right” is a great duet that helps put you in the right mood to get down for Valentine’s Day. Also, I think that 2022 is going to be the year of Doja Cat, so learn her discography now while you have the chance.
The Only Exception by Paramore
“The Only Excepetion” is the most scornful song on this playlist. Hayley William’s vocal talents in this song show the trials and tribulations that come with true love in a way that leaves me in awe. Also, a playlist is not finished until there is at least one emo-pop punk song on it, and Paramore always understands the assignment.
Have a great Valentine’s Day, and don’t let this holiday get you down. You can always practice self-love, and hopefully, this playlist can be the soundtrack to a lovely Valentine’s Day.
