One good thing about this time of year is the food. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are so good, and everyone loves to talk about them, but what about all of the snacks around this time? There are so many things you snack on before these two big meals and after. Some are sweet, some are salty, and some are just plain yummy. Read on and be prepared to be hungry and in need of a snack after reading this article!

Summer Sausage, Cheese, and Crackers

This is a staple in my house around the holidays. There is always a container filled with slices of summer sausage and cheese out or in the fridge. It is a relatively cheap snack and it is very easy to put together! It is slightly more filling cause if you think about it, they are like miniature sandwiches. If you want to spice it up a little more you can always provide a variety of cheeses, like colby jack, pepper jack, or even swiss.

Puppy Chow

No Indiana people do not eat dog food, but we do have something called puppy chow. Indiana people go crazy for this stuff so if it’s offered and you say no be prepared for some shocked looks. Puppy chow is Rice Chex cereal, powdered sugar, peanut butter, and chocolate chips. If you allergic to peanut butter, Do Not Eat This! It’s a good thing to snack on throughout the day or on Christmas as you open presents.

Fudge

There are many types of fudge. They have chocolate, peanut butter, cotton candy, cinnamon, and more. Takes a little longer to make but worth it. It is very rich though so don’t eat too much unless you have a huge sweet tooth. This is something you can make and gift to people and is definitely a crowd pleaser at parties.

Here are just three of many things to make for Christmas parties, gifts, or just for a random snack. Super delicious and mostly easy to make. Just google the recipes and send them to your mom and have them for the holidays. If you just want to run to Walmart and grab something though, I highly recommend the peppermint bark Oreo’s. Have a great time over the holidays and enjoy all the great food!
