Brittany’s Fashion Blog: Classy, Modern Looks All at Kohl’s!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

Before I started my senior year, I took one look at my closet and realized it needed a bit of a touch-up. This was after I glanced through Lauren Conrad’s ‘Style’ book. She featured sections of clothing considered to be necessities, but that were also versatile. I realized my looks needed to be updated—the real world is coming soon! I feel that Kohl’s they has done such a great job providing looks for this in-between stage for women through their new product launches. These include Vera Wang, Lauren Conrad, ELLE, and their newest, Jennifer Lopez. Here are some looks that I love!

Jennifer Lopez, ‘Embellished Top’ $84 (www.kohls.com)
Can you say simply beautiful? I went to Kohl’s this weekend and was finally able to look at Jennifer Lopez’s new line. I was truly impressed. She had such a variety and the material felt quality. I fell in love with this embellished top. It could be worn under a suit jacket, and yet you can take the jacket off, pair it with a great pair of black, cropped trousers and heels and—voila! You are ready for a nice dinner and night out with the girls. A top like this will last you a long time. The cut around the neckline is flattering on all women, while the Ÿ length sleeve hits just right on the arm. Love it!

Lauren Conrad, ‘Straight-Leg Ponte Pants’ $48 (www.kohls.com)
There is nothing better than finding a pair of pants that fit perfectly. Sometimes the heavy material found in most pants doesn’t always seem to cooperate with women’s fluctuating body types. We all have “those days,” but these pants are made from a combination of polyester, rayon, and spandex. This allows that ‘snug’ look without feeling like your circulation is going to be cut off. No more squat-stretching after the dryer in these pants! I know we all have been there before (at least I’m hoping this isn’t just me!). Regardless, they are super flattering. Pair these with a beautiful satin top and you are set!

ELLE, ‘Peep-Toe Wedges’ $64.99 (www.kohls.com)
‘Color blocking’ is really starting to make a comeback this fall. ELLE does a great representation of this trend on these adorable peep-toe wedges. I really love the mustard-yellow color because it’s just enough that will show through at the bottom of the pants, but it isn’t excessively bright. This allows for so many possible outfits to be worn with these shoes. The combination of the white, black, and yellow really make these shoes versatile. They can be worn with a black skirt and a top with similar colors, or worn under dress pants. The wedge itself also allows you to wear the shoe much longer than if it were just a regular heel! Nice work ELLE!

Vera Wang, ‘Simply Vera: Two-tone Multistrand Necklace’ $44 (www.kohls.com)
Vera Wang’s entire line at Kohl’s, ‘Simply Vera,’ does an excellent job of creating fashionable pieces that are classic yet modern. This necklace stood out to me due to the combination of silver, black, and diamond strands. This piece is appropriate enough for work, but the diamonds really bring out the glam for a night out! This necklace is simply a statement piece. Sometimes it’s amazing how you can take a simple top, add a necklace or any other statement accessory, and immediately your outfit is transformed. This necklace does just that!

The next time you are out shopping and really need a few pieces that can be worn for more than one occasion, look no further than Kohl’s! The great thing about Kohl’s is that they always have phenomenal sales. Every piece I mentioned in the blog was actually on sale. However, the price listed was the original. I honestly don’t think I have ever gone into Kohl’s and bought something that wasn’t on sale! I’m a bargain shopper, so I have no complaints!

As always, happy shopping and look for next week’s beauty or fashion blog!
