Fall is always an exciting time at Purdue! A new slew of students; gorgeous weather; tailgating; and, of course, the club call-out frenzy.

It’s impossible to miss the colorfully chalked sidewalks or go a day without being handed a flyer informing you of the many (and I mean many) clubs and organizations on campus. This is what makes Purdue so great! You, collegiette™, go to a school where there are endless possibilities to get involved, network and grow as a person while doing something that you enjoy. From Purdue Tennis Club to Anime Club to Purdue Student Union Board—there is bound to be a club or organization with your specific interests and needs in mind.

As President of the Liberal Arts Student Council (LASC) at Purdue, I have personally reaped the benefits of becoming involved on campus. LASC has not only led me to meet some really awesome people that I otherwise wouldn’t have, but it’s also enhanced various other parts of my life that I know will affect me in all of my years to come.

Being involved in one organization can also lead to other opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable. As LASC President, I am invited to the President’s Round Table. This is a bi-weekly meeting where I have the privilege of being able to sit down with about 25 of Purdue’s greatest leaders for discussion. Through this time, I have seen first handed the hard work and determination these leaders have to make the clubs and organizations at Purdue extraordinary and something that everyone can be a part of.

So I encourage you, collegiette™, to take advantage of what Purdue has to offer. Don’t just simply walk on chalked sidewalks but read them and take action. Don’t simply refuse to take a flyer. Don’t limit your extracurriculars to nothing. Get involved! The benefits are life long and the experience will truly enhance your time as a Boiler!
