Whether you’re 21 or not, it’s pretty safe to say if you’re a Purdue student and haven’t heard of Harry’s, you’re probably living under a rock. In the corner of the old brown building that spans about a block of State Street in The Village sits Harry’s Chocolate Shop. Just shy 8 years shy of its 100th birthday, Harry’s has become an institution here at Purdue. Chowing down on popcorn, carving your name into the wooden tables, and “going ugly early” are all rights of passage for us Boilermakers (which of course you already knew from reading “The ‘Old Oaken Bucket’ List!”), and are all things that can really only be done at Harry’s. Now, as an underager myself (4 more months!), I have yet to experience the glory that is Harry’s, but a majority of my legal-aged sources can verify that it is at the top of the campus bars list. For many of us, yesterday officially marked the end of Spring semester; for others, the end of their collegiate careers and time at Purdue. With just a few finals standing in the way of summer, our time in West La La this year is running out. So if you happen to be 21+, take a little study break, wander down to the corner of State and Pierce, and “Go Ugly Early!”
