How to Look Stylish and Fashionable at Thanksgiving Dinner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

The holiday season is approaching. That’s right. Cue the endless questions of “How is school going?” and “Do you have a boyfriend yet?” that you will get at least 30 times at the dinner table. If you are like me, you might not get dressed at all for Thanksgiving dinner and you show up to the table in your pajamas. However, if you are not like me, here are some ideas on what you should wear this Thanksgiving that will hopefully redirect the insufferable questions to your sister or maybe they will just ask, “Hey, where did you buy those pants?”

Something Casual

The first outfit idea I have is extremely casual. This is for maybe a thanksgiving lunch or if the dress code is a little more low-key. I love layering a cute graphic tee with a warm, fuzzy cardigan. It’s perfect for when the weather isn’t too unbearable. Pair it with a cute pair of high-waisted jeans and some cute booties, and you are good to go!

“I put some effort into my outfit today”

I love this outfit! I absolutely adore pants that are styled like these. I think it is so flattering with the way the tie cinches at the waist. Pairing a cute, lightweight sweater with these pants can dress them up a little more. This is a great alternative to wearing jeans if the dinner you attend is a little more formal. The great thing about pants like these is that they are extremely comfortable and can be tied looser if you want to eat a few extra servings of mashed potatoes or have that extra slice of pumpkin pie. (I know you want to!)

“Oh, she’s fancy!”

If you need to look really put together, a dress is the way to go! I love the idea of wearing a sweater dress, because it looks cute but also keeps you warm. You can easily dress something like this up even more with a pair of heels or if you don’t want to go too far, wear boots. A sweater dress will also hide the inevitable food baby that is sure to grow from all the pie!

Happy Thanksgiving!
