Makeup is an art form, with trends in extreme coverage and dark, smokey eyes. For most of my life, I lived in heavy foundation and glitter covered eyes in order to stand out when I danced on stage, so once that part of my life ended, I had no desire to wear face makeup for a long time. As time passed, I started to do more with my eye makeup; more intense colors and a cut-crease here and there. As I would complete my eyes, I would look at the rest of my face. It looked so odd to me, there was nothing there to balance out the intensity of my eyes. Because of this, I decided to take a trip to Sephora.
As I grew older, my face became more and more oily, so most skin products would slide off. I tried everything from BB creams to very high-end foundations. Nothing worked. They would break down by midday, even if my skin wasn’t particularly oily that day. I settled for a powder foundation, something that most makeup gurus use to set their liquid foundation, to be a temporary fix. As I used it, it was a little bit better than the others but it did not last. I thought I should just give up. However, my mom and I took one more trip to Sephora and I am so glad we did.
I walked through the store and stumbled upon the Urban Decay aisle. Oh I love their eyeshadows, but what about their face makeup? I had never tried it. I ran over to one of the artists and asked if she could color match me and explain what I could possibly like about the product. Here is what she said:
“Naked Skin (Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup) is a lightweight and light coverage foundation. It is enough to remove some redness and cover up most blemishes, but it does not weight down your skin and you only need a small amount to cover your face. Apply it with a brush and set it with setting spray and you should be good!”
She put some on my face and it felt amazing. Extremely light but everything looked smooth. I made my purchase and couldn’t wait to try it out with a full makeup look. I returned to school the next day and decided that the first day back to class, I would do a full-face test. So on Monday, I woke up, went to the gym, took a shower and sat down in front of my mirror. The application of this foundation is so easy and it does not budge. I set my face with setting spray when I finished and I was ready to get to class, but I looked out my window and saw that it was snowing like crazy. Well, I thought, this’ll be the true test. Fast forward a couple hours of walking through insane winds and snow hitting my face, I came back to my room. I forgot I had the makeup on! I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and I looked in the mirror. My face looked just the same as it did before I left my room. Nothing moved or melted! Definitely a successful purchase.
Not all products work for everyone, this one just happened to work in my case. Don’t be afraid to try many different brands and experiment. Get to know your skin; what helps it and what doesn’t. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has experienced similar struggles. It doesn’t hurt to try!
Good Luck!
