Her Campus Purdue: How long have you been apart of American Red Cross here at Purdue?
Adam Baker: I’ve been apart of the American Red Cross for two years now. I started the club as a Freshman when it was first starting and have been on the executive board for three semesters now.
Her Campus Purdue: What made you want to be part of American Red Cross?
Adam Baker: At first I wanted to know where blood drives were, because I understood the importance of blood donations. Then after joining the club I realized the American Red Cross wasn’t just about donating blood. There are many opportunities to help out the local community, for example the home fire campaign where we go around the Lafayette area and install free fire detectors.
Her Campus Purdue: What does American Red Cross at Purdue do?
Adam Baker: This year the American Red Cross at Purdue is trying to get more involved with the community by participating in more community service events along with hosting blood donations, plus the home fire campaign like I mentioned earlier. We also have an annual 5K fundraiser this spring to help raise money for the club.
Her Campus Purdue: What is your position within the organization and what do you do?
Adam Baker: This year my position in the American Red Cross is Community Service Chair. I’m in charge of finding and setting up community service activities.
Her Campus Purdue: What’s your favorite part of American Red Cross?
Adam Baker: My favorite part of the American Red Cross is making a difference in the community. I also like knowing that I am helping save peoples lives through home fire campaign and by donating blood every time I can.
Her Campus Purdue: Do you have any recommendations for anyone who is interested in joining?
