Potterheads around the world are counting their knuts and galleons for this new magical adventure. Starting next summer, you can set sail on the Magna Carta ship on a week-long Harry Potter Magical Cruise. The British cruise company The Barge Ladies have designed a perfect getaway for us “overly-invested” fans. The ship plans to visit some of the most iconic venues and locations where the films were shot. After departing from the United Kingdom’s Hampton Court, passengers will travel to their destinations down the beautiful River Thames.
They will then stop at Virginia Water, which is where Harry first meets the hippogriff Buckbeak. Other stops include Picket Post Close (AKA #4 Privet Drive, the home of the Dursley’s), and Oxford’s Christ Church College (AKA the building where the original great hall is located).
But the magic doesn’t stop there because the cruise will also visit Warner Bros. Studio Tour London where the passengers can go on a tour to see costumes, sets, and props that were used in the making of the 8 feature films. If that wasn’t enough to make you want to start packing right away, they also have a variety of Harry Potter activities planned as well as Harry Potter inspired cuisine to truly immerse you in the world of wizards and witches.
The cruise is scheduled to set sail for 2 separate week-long adventures. Mark your calendars for the week of April 5th through the 11th and the week of August 19th through the 25th so you can clear your schedule of all your Netflix plans and embark on this magical journey instead. The one downfall is that this trip is not cheap. Us broke college students might shed a tear as we read this, but the cost is approximately $4,190 per person.
Whether or not you can swing that price or not, I think that The Barge Ladies deserve as many Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavored Beans as they wish for creating one more thing that brings the Harry Potter world to life.
