Everybody has different tastes when it comes to food. What’s yours?
Whether you have a sweet tooth or prefer a savory mouthful, there will always be someone who doesn’t like what you like. There will also be people who disagree with the way you eat your favourite foods. There are some debates over food combinations, or methods of consuming food, that are more divisive than others. Here are just a few.
Does pineapple belong on pizza?
Pineapple on pizza was invented by Sam Panopoulous in 1962. In my opinion, pineapple belongs on pizza. This doesn’t mean I always eat pizza with pineapple on it, it just means that I enjoy it. Pineapple on pizza is refreshing and provides a sweetness that compliments the savory taste of pizza. My friends, on the other hand, strongly disagree and have even gone so far as to call it a sinful abomination.
Should macaroni be eaten with a fork or a spoon?
I’m indifferent to this debate. I would use whichever utensil is available, it doesn’t make that much of a difference to me. Maybe we should all just use a spork (half fork/half spoon). The arguments in favour of the spoon claim it’s easier and makes less of a mess. However, others prefer having the convenience of stabbing the macaroni, for easy noodle pick-up. According to the New York Daily News, results showed that 71% of adults think using a fork is the best.
Cereal – before or after the milk?
For the longest time, I didn’t realize that there were people who preferred to poured milk in their bowl before adding cereal. The idea of this makes me cringe. My friend said that she does this because then her cereal doesn’t get as soggy. In her defense, she’ll never pour her cereal and find out too late that she doesn’t have enough milk to fill the bowl.
Eating string cheese – to bite or to peel?
Obviously, string cheese is meant to be peeled, otherwise, why would it be called string cheese? Peeling string cheese tastes better and from my experience, it’s fun. Whoever said playing with your food is impolite must not have known about string cheese. Some people bite into the cheese because it’s faster and easier. Others might just find the idea of playing with their food to be immature.
