The 3 Sites You Should Be Procrastinating On Right Now!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

Pinterest.com is the best thing since the Bumper Sticker application on Facebook. However, Pinterest is 100x times better. According to it’s website, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard that, “lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web.” Pins range from fashion, Arts & Crafts, Geek, Cars and Motorcycles, Technology, Food & Drink and beyond. By browsing thousands of pins added by anyone with an account, you can create numerous inspiration boards based on any project your heart desires. Many pins will lead you directions for creating the item pinned. You can learn how to bake a bomb tie-dye cake for your roomie’s birthday, sew up your own infinity scarf, plan the perfectwinter wardrobe, and create beautiful holiday presents for all your loved ones. They’ll think it cost big bucks, when you put it together for pennies. You can even add their “Pin It” button to your web browser and upload your own pins to the site with anything you find on the web. Trust me when I say, pinning is EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE! Only allow yourself 10 minutes of Pinterest fun, for every hour your spend studying. I know it doesn’t sound that intense, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

LaurenConrad.com

I loved Laguna Beach and The Hills (LC editions only), and I will readily admit that my love for Lauren Conrad did not end there. This reality star parlayed her 15 minutes of fame into nearly a decade’s worth. She is now an accomplished fashion designer with a high end line, and a more affordable one available at Kohls, a successful author and novelist, and now a lifestyle guru. Watch out, Martha Stewart, LaurenConrad.com is the future. Her website offers LC’s personal take on fashion, beauty, home décor, food, literature and pop culture, personal growth and fitness, not to mention it’s also a fully-functioning social media site. Some of my personal favorites include her weekly, “Tuesday Ten” and “Friday Favorite” posts. Throughout October, she provided users with plenty of original ways to celebrate Halloween. I owe my one-of-a-kind peacock costume to her inspiration. I have not yet participated in her book clubs, but her reading advice is dead on. Her choices thus far include: The Hunger Games series, The Help, and Tina Fey’s hysterical memoir, Bossypants, are the best books I’ve read all year. Head over to LaurenConrad.com for a taste of everyone’s favorite SoCal Sweetheart.

TheBeautyDepartment.com
When I was just a young tween, I considered Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty my personal guide to hair and
cosmetics. TheBeautyDepartment.com provides all that guidance and more for the tech-savvy twenty-something. Lauren Conrad has teamed up with her personal beauty pros, Kristen Ess (hair) and Amy Nadine (make-up). Their collaboration will provide you with countless tutorials on make-up, skincare, hair styling, manicures, and anything else related to looking good and feeling good! Their posts are wonderfully written with humor and honesty, and always include creative photography that’ll be sure to get you smiling. This site is as polished as its creators.  Thanks to them, I have finally learned how to French braid my hair, properly blow it out, and how to rock the latest makeup trends. Check out their Holiday Gift Guide right away so you can make sure Santa has time to get you the best of TBD’s personal favorites.
