After watching Eggo Waffles’ most recent commercial I have decided it is extremely concerning. If you haven’t seen it, watch below:
This commercial is a pathetic summary of what the younger generation is turning into. Look, technology is great. I don’t leave the house without my iPhone, but this ad sickens me. Whatever happened to being able to enjoy a nice family breakfast without the interruption of smartphones buried in our faces?
Additionally, the fact that the children’s parents are letting their children use cellphones at the table while they use their phones as well is alarming. Are we losing the capability to have face-to-face conversation? Are the children of society becoming robots that are addicted to their cell phones?
Hey, Parents: it’s okay to let your child play on their iPad for an allotted amount of time during the day. But let’s get back to being able to have a meal for everyone’s sake without technology being the center of attention.
I have babysat and been a day camp counselor for years. Sadly, I have noticed the growing attachment kids are having to technology. To be blunt, Generation Z, you have an addiction. And a lot of your parents are not helping. Kids don’t want to play hopscotch or hide-and-go-seek anymore. They want to play on their iPads or iPhones. Is this disturbing to anyone else? Well, it is to me.
When you allow technology at the kitchen table, you’re not only allowing distraction but also the inability to have a simple face-to-face conversation. It all goes downhill from there.
Wake up, America.
