Blake Lively has pretty much everything going for her at the moment. The beautiful, blonde actress recently announced her pregnancy with husband Ryan Reynolds earlier this month, has the lead role in the upcoming romance drama The Age of Adaline and is still reaping off of the success of Gossip Girl, a show that ended nearly two years ago but has become vastly popular this past year on Netflix.
This past summer, the new mom-to-be decided to step out of her comfort zone of acting in television and film by launching her lifestyle site, Preserve. Preserve has been compared to Gwyneth Paltrow’s website, Goop, but Preserve gives off a more rustic, patriotic and personal vibe.
Lively has described her new endeavor as “part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavor and above all, a place to showcase the power of imagination, ingenuity, quality, and above all, people.”
Basically, the site focuses on celebrating craftsman and artisans throughout America by promoting the goods they make, whether they be clothing, food, comforters, pillows or furniture. Many of the items displayed on the site are fairly expensive, since the company is a for-profit business, but Preserve also sets philanthropic goals.
The site’s first goal is to give 2,000 children a blanket, 2,700 a warm sweatshirt and 5,000 children a meal. As Preserve expands, they are determined to increase their donations to children in America.
On the homepage, you can also find articles for the site’s current issue and then shop the looks that are worn in those articles. Lively has even been wearing clothes from Preserve while pregnant.
The fun thing about Preserve, though, is that it concentrates on both the past and future of America, from the small towns in the Midwest to the large cities scattered along the East Cost. Each of these places has a story to be told, a story to be written, a relic or treasure to be shared, and pure hearts that want to give back to those less fortunate in the country that they know and love.
Preserve is not your typical lifestyle website, but a website that hopes to engage readers and consumers into preserving our country’s history by supporting and giving recognition to the individuals who work hard every day to make goods that inspire us and place meaning into our lives.
