Every well working machine has its well-oiled parts that make it run. It sounds kind of cliché but… it IS cliché. It’s how everything works. Take a football game for example. Do you think the players go out there and wing it? For my non-athletic homies out there, the answer is no, they don’t. Their team has to come up with a well thought out plan to win and you best believe that those players have practiced it until they could run the play with a blindfold on. Believe it or not, Her Campus QU runs EXACTLY the same way. We are a team. We are a machine.
We felt that it was time to introduce our readers to some of the brains and beauty behind the Her Campus Quinnipiac chapter. I asked some personal questions to a few of my co-writers and received a plethora of juicy answers for you to thrive on. It’s about time ya’ll got to know who your favorite authors were! We hope you enjoy!

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Ever since middle school, I’ve always wanted to be involved in journalism. I’ve always been enamored by the news, the written word and writing/reading in general; but it wasn’t until I learned about Carrie Bradshaw that I put together I wanted writing to be the one thing I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I got to college, claiming my major in journalism just felt natural and it’s so great to be able to see those dreams of mine come to fruition.
What is one thing that makes you happy, no matter what?
I really enjoy my alone time, being an only child. When I’m in bed watching Netflix and have my candles lit, I’m so content. It seems like such an obvious thing, but I really cherish relaxation and independence.
What’s one thing you want to learn more about?
I’ve always really wanted to learn how to play piano or ballroom dance!
What advice would you give to a first year college student?
Step out of your comfort zone!!! Seriously! I think that whole idea gets a bad rep, but it’s so worth it because of the people you meet and the other experiences you can have. Study
abroad, join a club that’s not similar to your studies, attend an event you’re even the slightest bit interested in. You won’t regret it!

Where is your favorite place to escape to?
A local vineyard in my town that overlooks everything (it’s actually stunning) or the reservoir down the road! I bring a book or a journal. Could probably spend a whole day at either place and not realize it haha!
If you had one day left to live, what is the first thing you would do?
I think I’d book a one way trip to England. I like to think I belong there for some odd reason?
What decade do you feel you most belong in?
Most definitely the 90’s!
If you could identify with one fictional character (from a book, show or movie) who would it be?
Alaska Young from Looking for Alaska.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. I don’t think that physical attributes should play a role and that’s exactlywhat love at first sight is. I can say that I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him, but did I really? No. I didn’t. Because he could be the most gorgeous human being on the planet but if he has the personality of a mop then there isn’t a point of love there. I think Warhol was the one who said that people should fall in love with their eyes closed.
What’s one thing you want to learn more about?
People! I think humans are beautiful, mysterious creatures and I want to know more about them, their cultures, their beliefs… just everything.
What is one thing that makes you happy, no matter what?
Harry Styles (duh).

Where is your favorite place to escape to?
My head. I love dreaming and making up scenarios. Sometimes when there is a lot going on, in order to escape, I’ll dream. I make up multiple different fairytales with different characters and stories. It’s just kind of an escape. I think it comes from my love of reading. When I was younger, I loved reading because it took me to a whole new world where the impossible was possible. I guess this is just my grown-up version?
If you had one day left to live, what is the first thing you would do?
If I had one day left to live, I would tell everyone what I really think if them. That probably seems aggressive, haha. But can you imagine, just walking down the road and going, “You’re so hot” or, “I never liked you.” It just seems like it would be so freeing.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a fashion designer.
Do you accept compliments easily or do you hate them?
It totally depends! It depends on who it’s from and the situation. Like if my friends compliment me, I just rub it off because they’re supposed to say that! But if a boy says it, I’m like “What do you want from me?”
What is your favorite attribute about yourself?
I have really good eyebrows.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
No, but I do think you can fall in love at any time… after ond week, three months, two years. With love at first sight, we only notice the exterior and we don’t really know what they are like on the inside.
What do you look for in a person?
A very large…. sense of humor! If you’re not funny, you can’t hang. You learn a lot about a person just by what they laugh at.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger, I wanted to be teacher when I grew up. I used to love to write on my whiteboard and teach lessons with my friends.
What’s one show, movie or book that you’re too embarrassed to admit to enjoying?
I love to watch reality TV, therefore I do watch “Keeping Up with The Kardashians” and “Teen Mom OG.” I never tell people though, because they always have strong opinions on it and I just watch for enjoyment.
What advice would you give to a first year college student?
I would tell a first year college student to do everything they want to do within in their four years, and to not let your friends not joining something stop you from doing it. College is to learn, grow, and take opportunities presented to you. It only happens once so get as much as you can out of it!
What do you look for in a person?
Preferably I look for someone who is taller than me and who can make me laugh endlessly, but can also be able to have serious conversations as well.
