All right, ladies, let’s be honest. If you could pay a million dollars to know exactly what a guy is thinking, you’d do it. Well unfortunately, I don’t know the answer (if I did I’d be a millionaire), but over the past couple of year I have taken up an interest in reading books that help me better understand the male mind. While some of them may be funny, gross, or sometimes even plain disturbing, I’ve learned a few tricks along the way by getting the insight into a guys mind. So I have decided to share my list with you on the top 4 books you should read to be a better handle on the men in your life.
- I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell– Yes, everyone’s talked about it, there have been shirts and twitter accounts made about it, but in reality Tucker Max gives every girl exactly what they want, an insight to what a man is really thinking. Sure some of his stories are a times a little extreme and down right gross after reading this book I asked myself what would I do if I ever met Tucker Max, would I slap him or just give him a high-five? In all honesty, I’d probably give him a high-five just because although he grossed people out, he was downright honest and held no barriers. After reading the book, you’ll be able to see exactly what some men are thinking and to know if this is something you really want.
- He’s Just Not Into You-The movie was great (who didn’t love watching Ben Affleck and Jen Aniston be the cutest couple ever) but in reality the book is ten times better! Written by Greg Behrend and Liz Tuccillo, both writers from Sex and the City, Behrend takes the lead advising women exactly what men are thinking. Although Behrend isn’t all men, he is quite charming throughout the book calling ever girl a ‘super-fox,’ it gives the female mind insight on what exactly you deserve in a relationship and what men are looking for as well.
- Assholes Finish First-The follow up book to I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, Tucker Max provides the female mind with even more enriched and ridiculous things men to get women attention and the reasoning, or lack there of, behind it. Although Max once again divulges into the gross stories and acts but this time adds some more personal stories into it, even mentioning some of the women he actually loved showing that yes, men can be jerks, but sometimes they can be nice too.
- The Outsiders– For those of you who weren’t required to read this book, read it…NOW. Yes it’s a book actually written by a girl, S.E. Hinton was her pen name, but it accurately displays the bromance between men and how important it is to get along with their friends. “Let’s do it for Ponyboy,” will mean so much more once you realize that men value their relationships with their friends and it’s necessary to understand how deep these relationships sometimes run. Remember, if you can understand your guys’ best friend, you’re halfway there in understanding him.
