What made you choose Pi Beta Phi?
I chose to join Pi Beta Phi because I was excited about the thought of something new on campus. It was appealing to me to be able to help form such a prestigious and recognized organization and make Greek history here at Quinnipiac University. Also, the literacy philanthropy that Pi Phi supports was particularly interesting to me.
Do you have any biological siblings? What has it been like to gain 90 in a few short weeks?
I have a younger sister who is my absolute best friend. Gaining so many new sisters in such a short time has certainly been an experience unlike any other. However, it has been great, especially given the amazing relationship I have with my biological sister. If anything, it has shown me how valuable and special those close relationships are and that it is vital to treat all my Pi Phi sisters as I would my own – with love and respect.
Did you always plan on joining a Greek organization during your time at Quinnipiac?
It’s actually funny – I never pictured myself joining Greek life at all! However, at a school with so many students I found Pi Phi to be a great opportunity to find my passion and place here at QU and now that I am a part of it I realize what a special experience it really is – especially to be founding sisters of a chapter.
How have your experiences as a founding sister and the first president of the CT Gamma chapter been thus far?
My experiences with Pi Phi as a founding sister and the first president of CT Gamma have been great so far. Our Resident Leadership Development Consultant Emily Jones has truly shown each of us the values and expectations of Pi Beta Phi and getting to know my CT Gamma sisters has been rewarding as well as exciting. It is such an honor to be the first Chapter President here at Quinnipiac and I am so excited to learn all about what my job entails and serve our Chapter.
In my new role I would like to unite our Chapter and spread the true comprehension of what sisterhood means. Furthermore, it is really important to me to establish Pi Phi in the Greek community here as well as the Quinnipiac community. When people here at QU think of Pi Phi, I want them to associate a good reputation with the name and think that we are role models in the school community and something that girls aspire to be a part of. The best way to ensure that is from the inside out, building strong sisterhood relationships to create a strong foundation to be built upon.
