QU How To: Welcome the Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

After a long winter the warm sun hitting your skin reminds you why spring is one of the most loved seasons. The spring also gives you a chance to try new things.  Here are a few tips on how to welcome spring while broadening your horizons.

  1. Do your homework outside– Take a blanket and your books and head outside to the QUAD or the grass behind the soccer field.  Getting sun while doing homework is a great opportunity to get out of your dorm room and socialize. The QUAD get’s packed when it’s nice out, filled with students doing work or just playing a pick-up game, so by going, you’ll be able to meet new people.
  2. Climb the Mountain– The Sleeping Giant is beautiful and it’s free to climb!  Grab a bunch of your friends, pick a trail and climb on up.  You can even bring a sandwich and something to drink and have a little picnic once you get up there. One trail even overlooks QU and it’s a great spot to get some group pictures with an amazing background!
  3. Rearrange your room– Regardless of if you live in the suites, where there’s a common room, or a quad in Commons, try rearranging your furniture.  Not only is it a great opportunity to clean your room, but by changing the way your room is set-up it could bring about a new mood, causing you to see a difference in the way you act.
  4. Go into New Haven during the day– Most QU students only see the city of New Haven on their shuttle ride to Toads, but try actually going in during the day time. Even try out some new restaurant; Franke Pepe is a great pizzeria located right in New Haven so grab a bunch of friends and check it out!
  5. Go to Wentworth’s Ice Cream– Homemade ice cream is just what a girl needs to cool herself down on a hot spring day. With Wentworth’s just down the block and walking distance from campus it’s a great escape from campus for a quick treat.  With reasonable prices and delicious flavors what’s not to love?  Gather your girlfriends and take the trip (just make a right on Whitney Ave. and keep walking down until you hit it).  You can try all the flavors you want before you purchase to make sure you’re getting the right one!
