The time is tik tok-ing down until Ke$ha will perform in the TD Banknorth Center on April 1 as a part of her “Get Sleazy” Tour.
Tickets have been sold out for weeks after hoards of students stood in line for hours on end trying to gain access to the Fourth Annual Wake the Giant concert, put on by the Student Programming Board.
“I don’t even go to Quinnipiac but I asked my best friend to get me tickets to go with her” said visitor student Michael Petras. “I am really excited to have the opportunity to go.”
Ke$ha’s recently announced opening act will be Beardo—a solo artist that sings, raps and does all the instrumentals for his performance. The opener was previously unannounced but QU had agreed to whoever Ke$ha brought on stage with her.
The star herself proclaimed the concert to be a fun dance party and has made stops in Australia and across the United States.
Ke$ha’s career has skyrocketed in the past year after the release of her album “Animal” in the beginning 2010 and her extended play (EP) disc “Cannibal” towards the end.
If you haven’t heard Ke$ha, you’ve been living in another universe. Six hit singles have made Ke$ha a well-known name. Her first, “Tik Tok” which came on the airways in Aug. 2009 went platinum five times in the U.S. and hit seven times in Canada.
The majority of Ke$ha’s music can be categorized as pop or euro-pop with its fast music, bumping beats and music that could be considered in-between singing and rapping with a large use of auto-tune.
Her set list for the concert will most likely include the biggest songs from these two albums iand other popular songs such as “Take it Off” and “We Are Who We Are.”
Students that don’t listen to Ke$sha religiously are joining in the fun too. “I’m not a really big fan of Ke$ha but I’m really surprised that QU got a big celebrity like her to come here,” said freshman Christina Violano. “The first thing I thought was ‘man QU has a lot of money to get someone like Ke$ha.’ Aside from that though, I’m so excited.”
