Why Not? Attend Greek Kickoff

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

HC QU this week has Greek life written all over it. Two women express their opinions, both confident in their decisions to join or not to join a sorority. As a 2011 recruitment counselor, I feel it is my Panhellenic* duty to encourage you to attend Greek Kickoff tomorrow (Wednesday, February 2). Basically, you will experience an energetic display of spirit from each sorority and fraternity. Once you attend this event, you may decide whether or not Greek life is for you and from there, you’ll be able to join the 280 women already signed up, and register for formal recruitment. Three years ago, I was against sorority life because of the examples TV and the silver screen had given me. But in Fall 2008, I said why not? Even if I hadn’t joined my sisters that weekend, I would have had peace of mind knowing that I saw Greek life for myself.

Take a quick walk to Burt Kahn Court at 9:30 tomorrow, ladies. Why Not?

*Panhellenic is an organization overseeing most of our sororities on campus.

Please note that Greek Kickoff has been canceled due to all of the ice. Get all of your info. Thursday night at Formal Recruitment 101 in Burt Kahn Court and register for recruitment here before midnight on Wednesday.

Leigh is a senior print journalism major and sociology minor at Quinnipiac University. She enjoys traveling, writing, photography, watching Sex and the City, going out on the town (of Hamden) and laughing with, and at her housemates. In the Summer of 2009, she interned in Los Angeles at Genlux Magazine and Red Light Public Relations. She studied in Barcelona in the Spring of 2010 where she learned the true importance of life from the Catalan people. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega and was a recruitment counselor during formal sorority recruitment in February. It has been rumored that due to her consistent honesty, she has no secrets of her own. Leigh loves her university and is having the time of her life as a senior. She has only had a few minor freak-outs about her upcoming graduation to date.
