For those of you who are guilty of any of the following, don’t feel bad. Clearly these were prevalent enough for me to write an entire article about it.
1. But what about chicken??? – This one really kills me. I’m not sure what arbitrary definition of meat you live your life by but as far as I’m concerned, chicken is still meat so no, I do not eat it.
2.) How do you get protein? – Believe it or not, protein can be found in a wide variety of foods, not just meat. Lentils, grains such as quinoa and soy products like edamame are just a few examples of plant-based sources of protein. But please, continue asking me personal questions about my health.
3.) Don’t you miss meat? – To be honest, I don’t even really remember what it tastes like. And I have very little will power. If I missed it, you’d probably find me chowing down on some BBQ nachos from Central.
4.) Can’t you just eat around it? — Nope that’s not how this works. Not explaining this one.
5.) And finally, one of my personal favorites, usually expressed by relatives around Thanksgiving, are you still doing that weird vegetarian thing? – Nope, after two thirds of my life I’ve decided to give it up. Pass the turkey please.
