Every year RIT’s Anime Club puts together its annual anime convention, Tora-Con. Tora-Con is a two-day long event dedicated to all that is anime. This year’s Tora-Con took over the campus this past weekend. Everywhere you looked you saw hoards of people dressed in their finest anime attire.
There was a bevy of special guests from all throughout the industry who came to speak at over 30 different panels on anime. One of the special guests, Uncle Yo helped with the Cosplay Contest (an anime costume contest), helping with the set-up of the event as well as emceeing. There were about 100 participants in the Cosplay Contest. Participants compiled everything they could to create the best and most realistic costumes they could. One participant even came out as a giant Pokémon character.
Tora-Con also featured an Anime Music Video contest in which participants competed in a challenge to create their own music videos featuring clips from anime shows and movies. There was also a dance and a larger concert as well.
