You may have seen this trend going around, particularly at the beginning of each week, of people posting their weekly R.E.P.O.R.Ts on TikTok. If you’re not familiar, R.E.P.O.R.T is an acronym for Reading, Eating, Playing, Obsessing, Recommending, and Treating. Using the slideshow format, people share what they have been up to in the previous week in terms of each of the six categories.
Here’s a little bit what my own weekly report would look like:
R- One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
E- A really big strawberry, like, gigantic
P- Coloring in my new coloring book
O- Christmas cards (I’ve already bought nine)
R- Upcycling: I turned old calendar prints into a gallery wall in my room
T- Disney trip with my sorority!
I think this is such a fun trend and you really get some great recommendations out of it, and not just from the second R. I love to see what books people are loving, what snacks they’ve been eating, and what hobbies they’re taking up. Viewing the trend is fun, but I think there might be even more benefit as a participant of the trend.
I have found, taking the time at the beginning of each week to reflect on the previous week is a really great self care practice! It’s a great way to acknowledge the positives of even the toughest of weeks. I think we could all find some merit in learning how to think on the bright side. I know right now for me at least, I’m totally overwhelmed by this semester. It can be easy to lose sight of the good parts when I’m stuck in my room writing five page papers every week. It’s all about the little things and sharing in my own weekly report about the huge strawberry I ate, kinda did make me feel better!
I’m excited to keep up with this trend, but as we know, trends come and go. I think the Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T is a great thing to incorporate into journaling or even just mindful reflection in our heads, to continue this practice long after the trend passes.
