A Fresh Start for Spring Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Roosevelt chapter.

You have been given a clean slate because it’s the start of a new semester! If you’re anything like us you spent your break watching Netflix, and eating food that should have sent your guilt meter through the roof! Well now it is time to get your stuff together!  Following these incredible steps should have your entire spring semester on fleek!

Getting organized should be your top priority when starting a new semester. Organizing yourself a head of time is not only mentally pleasing but it also allows you to have everything in order for when you need it!

Clean your space! It turns out your mom was actually right, when you thought she was nagging for fun. Having a clean dorm room, apartment, etc. is one of the most joyous feelings on the planet. Having your personal space organized and clean sets the tone for how your school year is going to be, and you don’t want to start the semester off messy and funky.

You MUST get yourself a planner! This is one of the best purchases you will ever make. It allows you to keep up the goal of remaining organized throughout your entire semester.

The one mistake so many of us make is waiting to purchase books. I know it is important to try and wait it out, and see who has the best deals. It is also extremely helpful and important to have your books as soon as possible. Not every teacher is going to follow the rule of syllabus week, and give no real assignments until the next week. It’s important to be ready for whatever assignments are thrown your way, so get those books!

The best part about starting any new process in your life, including a new school semester, is getting new clothes! Buy a few new clothing items for a fresh start to your semester.

It is supper important to make time for healthy activities, like working out. Create a workout schedule that will fit your new school schedule perfectly. Working out can help to clear your mind when school becomes a little too hectic. It’s also pretty good for you too. So make time for your mental and physical health!

Throughout a single semester your computer can become cluttered with files that you don’t need. Clean out and organize your computer. This will not only help you find the things you need a lot easier, but it will also provide more space for new files.
