School
• Why did you choose your major?
I’ve always been interested in being an artist, but the starving artist route didn’t look to bright . I decided to find something to establish stability and also fund my interests. IMC with a focus in advertising presented an opportunity for myself to start a career that allows me to be creative on the job.
• What are your plans after graduation?
To travel, and then get a start in an advertising agency, as a junior art director. I have so many interests, I just know I would plan to make my self busy haha.
• Why did you choose RU?
Well, I’ve always envisioned myself at Roosevelt. Roosevelt just gave me a good feeling. I used to be apart an after school program back in elementary school, and early high school where we would come to Roosevelt and take classes. Since then Roosevelt was always on my mind. So one day I went for it. It also helped that I found out about the IMC program.
• What is your favorite thing about Roosevelt?
The people and the culture here. I’ve always been a go to class and leave type of person . The community at Roosevelt challenged me to want to make a impact of some sort. I’ve been able to make friends here, and establish relationships. When I say people that’s staff and professors included.
• What has been your favorite RU event?
My favorite Roosevelt event was actually an event I attended way before I transferred to Roosevelt. It was a Hill Harper event . It was an panel discussion on crime and incarceration, which is a constant battle within the Black community.
Social Causes
• What social cause matters most to you?
Equality
Social justice
Opportunity for people of color
Systematic oppression
The list goes on, I’m big on peace, love, and everyone being able to co-exist and not be at each other’s throats. People should be able to live in harmony. The color of your skin not being a barrier for opportunities. That is freedom, true freedom.
Style
• How would you describe your personal style?
Depends on the day and the occasion. I go for what I like and what suits my mood. I’m big on the little details and things that complement each other.
• What’s your favorite item in your closet?
2011 Jordan bordeaux 7s
A gold watch passed down to me from my dad.
Celebrity Status
• What makes you a campus celebrity?
My Art.
I’m a kid from the south side trying to make it. I’m a believer of dreams. I want to do as much as I can so that I can inspire other kids like myself from similar backgrounds. If what I do can make kids to see far beyond their window and make them want to take that step into the impossible, then my job is done. Until then I have to keep pushing forward.
