Teenage-Disney Star turned satellite start-up CEO Bridgit Mendler has sparked a lot of internet buzz lately. Having a resume padded with impressive accomplishments – acting on various shows and movies, an impressive education, and volunteer and space-law initiatives – fans have jokingly theorized that Mendler is indeed a time traveler. While this may sound like a silly TikTok trend, fans have dissected this theory to extremely extensive lengths, and we’re totally here for it!
early career
Mendler’s career began when she was only 12 years old, as a voice actor in the animation The Legend of Buddha. She then moved on to guest roles in film and television before she scored the recurring role of Juliet van Heusen of the hit Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place when she was 17. While she was on Wizards of Waverly Place, she also became the lead of the one of the most popular Disney shows to date, Good Luck Charlie, as Teddy Duncan. Following Good Luck Charlie, Mendler has taken part in several movies, such as Lemonade Mouth and Father of the Year. Success in film, however, was not enough for Mendler. She has also had a famous music career, with hit songs such as Hurricane and Ready or Not, with fans begging for more. Mendler clearly took Ready or Not to heart, as whether we are ready or not, she’s going to constantly surprise us with her success!
Education
Following her impressive acting career, Mendler has had an equally, or even more, impressive education. According to her LinkedIn (go follow our girl Bridgit), she received her undergraduate degree from 2013-2016 at the University of Southern California. Then she got her Master’s degree and Doctorate of Philosophy from MIT and her Doctorate of Law from Harvard. Amidst her educational pursuits, she has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time – she’s only 31!!! – the whole idea of Bridgit being a time traveler began.
now
Bridgit’s accomplishments have recently resurfaced and gone viral on the internet, with the announcements of her being the CEO of a space company start-up, and adopting a child! Mendler’s startup is called Northworth Space, which focuses on building satellite stations on the ground to help receive and transmit data between space and Earth. Mendler recently told CNBC that “The vision is a data highway between Earth and space…Space is getting easier along so many different dimensions but still the actual exercise of sending data to and from space is difficult.” Alongside her, Brigit’s husband Griffin serves as Northwood’s CTO.
According to E News, a fan stated that, “She is Barbie… [Mendler has had] Like 12 different careers. Singer/songwriter, actress, Harvard doctorate of law recipient, MIT PhD student, CEO of a start up.” It’s a wonder that she has time to fit these various pursuits and accomplish them so successfully at a young age. Whether or not she’s really a time traveler, Bridgit Mendler is an inspiration and reminder that it’s never too early – or late – to accomplish your dreams as long as you believe in yourself!
