Halloween is always an exciting time of the year, but if you’re like me, you often find yourself scrambling for a costume or you just don’t have the time for a detailed one. Don’t worry, I got your back! There are tons of easy Halloween costumes, all concentrated in the makeup look, making the other components of your costume easy to put together. Keep on reading to learn how to create a great makeup look that’s simple and doesn’t require many additional purchases.

Bowie

A great costume that’s unique and many others won’t do is to dress up as Bowie. Even if you don’t have eccentric and colorful stage outfits like he often wore, as long as you got the iconic lighting bolt across your face, you’ll be recognizable in an instant. The lightning bolt can be achieved by using colorful eyeshadows in your collection. It’s best to start oput taking a thin eyeliner or lip brush to draw the outline on your face. If you’re feeling really nervous about messing up, print and cut out the lightning bolt and use it to trace the outline of the bolt and then fill in. Once you’ve got that down, lightly powder and spray it with setting spray to keep it in place. Pair it with a bright pink lipstick shade and tease the top of your hair and you’re ready to rock!

Skeleton

A classic but still great look that’s easy to prepare and with a lot of things you may already have at home. At first glance, it might seem difficult to achieve but the awesome thing about this look is that it doesn’t require precision; being messy with it is part of the look! There are also tons of tutorials on YouTube to help you navigate each step. All you need is black and white face paint, but if you’re on a tight budget, your collection of black eyeliners and eyeshadows should do the trick, leaving just the white face paint to be purchased. and As far as the fit, just pair it with black jeans and top and if you like showing skin, a black bodysuit with fishnet stockings underneath.

Mermaid

This costume looks like you spent a lot of time perfecting it but requires even less precision than the previous look. If you have colorful eyeshadows in a palette that haven’t been touched, this is a great way to get use out of them. The only thing you might need to purchase is a mesh wig cap to achieve the scales and some glitter to amp up the look. To get this look, place the wig cap over your face. Take a dense face brush loaded with any blue shade of your liking and brush it over the wig cap in the areas you would normally bronze, so on the perimeter of your forehead, your cheekbones, temples, and even your jawline. You can also add some purple or green next to where you placed the blue and be sure the blend the two together so there are no harsh lines. Dust some glitter on top of the scales and rock a sparkly or duo-chrome lip if you’re feeling extra!

Devil

For this look, the main attraction is the lips. A luscious red lipstick is the perfect pairing with the horns. You can even do red eyeshadow with black added to the crease to darken it up. Or a quick alternative is winged eyeliner paired with false eyelashes with the red lipstick for a sultry look. You can wear a red dress with red fishnet stockings underneath if you want to turn heads or opt for any red top and black jeans for a more lowkey style.

Witch

This look requires minimum effort and can be quickly put together on short notice. Apply your lightest foundation shade and do a dark black smoky eye. You can also pair the smokey eye with a black lip to add even more drama. All you need to do is buy a witches hat, wear all black and your set! Your vamped up take on a classic look will be sure to beat out all the other basic witches in the room!

Cat

When you’re really in a pinch and need a very last minute costume, a cat is the way to go. All you need to do is take your favorite black eyeliner and draw on whiskers and a nose. And that’s basically it! You can go out and get cat ears if you have the time, but even without them, people will instantly know what you are.

So when you’re in a pinch and need a quick costume, makeup is your best friend. No one will even know you put your costume together a few hours ago!
