Myself, along with millions of teens and twenty-somethings, are looking to Olivia Rodrigo as the new and stylish “it-girl”. The Disney star, along with looking fantastic, just so happens to have an amazing gift for making music. Her music videos, Instagram posts, and song lyrics all scream cool girl, so it’s no wonder everyone wants to try out her signature simple, grungy style.
To start out, we can look to her first music video for the song “Dirvers License”. This song would have been personally responsible for wearing out my iPod Nano if released a decade earlier, but lucky for me my iPhone was able to handle all of the replaying. This music video is so amazing and has a beautiful color scheme that plays off of Olivia’s natural earth-toned color palette really nicely. The outfits are simple and clean, but cool and edgy at the same time.
Next, I want to point out the fact that I forced my mom to sit down and watch Olivia’s “Deja Vu” music video in small chunks, interrupted by yours truly who let her know that this is the reason I bought those sunglasses off Amazon and why I desperately need to borrow her Hermes hair scarf. Not only did this music video give me major “post-vax” inspo for summer, but it may or may not have influenced my spur of the moment bang chop…. oops! Either way, I think it’s pretty obvious I’m obsessed.
I’m so freaking excited to see what Olivia Rodrigo comes out with next to upgrade my Spotify playlist, and keep me crying over the pretend boyfriend I not only had, but managed to lose to an older blonde girl…
