Sacred Heart University has tons of dining halls around campus. However, sometimes it is nice to treat yourself and grab some food off campus! Here are some of my favorite food spots in the Bridgeport area:

  1. Romanacci
  • Who doesn’t love Italian food? Romanacci is a classic SHU favorite that I have adored since my freshman year. I tend to get the pizza but the appetizers and sandwiches are amazing! For the 21+ year olds, I would recommend the Apple Rosé Sangria! My underage friends can get a nice glass bottle of Coke, which always makes me feel so fancy for some reason.
  1. Main Street Creamery
  • This is another SHU classic! Right in the middle of Main Street lies my favorite ice cream spot in town. They basically have everything in the dessert field- milkshakes, ice cream, sundaes, floats and more! They also offer a discount for Sacred Heart students which always comes in clutch for a broke college student.
  1. Pancheros Mexican Grill
  • This one is slightly farther than the others but it is so worth the drive! Pancheros makes AMAZING burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. I normally get the quesadillas but I have heard nothing but good things about the rest! This is definitely a place I’d recommend for you and your friends to treat yourselves to some Mexican food.
  1. Flipside Burger
  • This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in the area! Flipside Burgers & Bar is in Fairfield and it truly has some of the best burgers! They have all different types of toppings that I never thought would go on top of a burger. I’ve made it a tradition to come here with my parents whenever they visit but I also have had some great dinner nights with my friends here!
  1. Merritt Canteen
  • Last but not least, I had to bring up yet another SHU classic in the middle of Main Street. This spot is perfect for grabbing food on the go or stopping in and dining with your friends! Their menu has a HUGE variety- breakfast all day, desserts, tons of finger foods, burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches! The prices are pretty cheap too which, again, is always nice for a college student.

If you haven’t tried any of these, you’re definitely missing out! The atmosphere and menu of all these spots are perfect for a college setting and I would definitely recommend giving them a try at some point throughout your four years here!
