If you’re an Irish girl, March is hands down your favorite month. Whether you’re celebrating the big day by participating in parade day festivities or by simply enjoying some corned beef and cabbage, St. Patrick’s Day is a highly anticipated holiday for everyone. Here are thirteen thoughts you will definitely have this St. Patrick’s Day:
1. Oh. It’s St. Patrick’s Day and you’re all of a sudden Irish? How convenient (and annoying).
2. If you’re last name doesn’t begin with O’ are you even Irish?
3. It’s not St. Patty’s Day…. It’s St. Paddy’s Day. If you’re going to pretend to be Irish, at least spell it correctly in your Instagram post.
4. Ah, finally. The one day of the year where college students can drink all day without being labeled alcoholics has arrived. Better yet, it is conveniently celebrated during midterm week! What better time to indulge in a Guinness or five?
5. Totally not a fan of Guinness, but I’ll pretend to like it so I can appear more Irish.
6. Wearing a “KISS ME I’M IRISH” shirt does not mean everyone in the room is inclined to stick their tongue down your throat. Please, my stomach is turning and you’re clover tattoo is flaking into my beer.
7. Classes the day after St. Patrick’s Day should be illegal. Human rights, anyone?
8. If you can’t handle an Irish car bomb, please leave the bar.
9. It’s never too early to start preparing for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Why not stock up on a surplus of plastic green beads and clover tattoos for next year?
10. Why aren’t I celebrating the most important holiday of the year in the motherland?
Katelyn Cahill, above, is a fellow Sacred Heart student who visited Ireland this past December through SHU’s study abroad program. We are beyond jealous!
11. I’ve peed, like, thirty times today. Is that normal?
12. Should I post a tbt from back in the Old Navy St. Paddy’s Day t-shirt years? It will definitely get a lot of likes.
This is a major throwback. Let’s keep it that way.
13. Sorry to burst your bubble, but your Victoria’s Secret green glitter-tank isn’t much cooler.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Irish gals!
