I look forward to Fashion Week every season. New York Fashion Week (NYFW) began in 1943, and is still iconic to this day. Typically it is held in February and September of each year in Manhattan. February 2023 had some amazing looks on the runway and from the guests attending.Â
Some of my favorite designs were by Carolina Herrera, who integrated a lot of romantic gowns and Empress Elisabeth of Austria-inspired designs. Many of the gowns were bright yellows, purples, and some were black for a hint of sleek elegance. One model wore a black ball gown with gold embroidery and a chunky pearl necklace, which is inspired by the Empress Elisabeth of Austria.Â
Another one of my favorite runways was Rodarte. The designs can be described as gothic glamor, with dark, dramatic and flowy designs. Many of the models’ makeup was also heavily inspired by the movie Black Swan, with the dramatic heavy winged black eyeliner and black lipstick.Â
The celebrities who attended NYFW also did not disappoint. Lil Nas X was seen at multiple shows showing off many amazing looks. My favorite of his looks was when he attended the Christian Cowan show on February 14. He wore a lavender suit, bedazzled platform heels, and a huge pink feather headpiece. Another great look was worn by Dominique Jackson on the runway for The Blonds. The Pose star closed out the show with a garment shaped like a diamond, a white fur coat, and fishnets. Another celebrity who never fails to turn heads with her wardrobe is Julia Fox, and her NYFW looks are no different. The most notable I would say is her all denim horn look that she wore on the Luis De Javier runway. The denim dress went to her ankles, completed with denim boots and horns coming from her bust area. There were so many other amazing looks, but I discussed the ones that stood out to me personally. It’s always my favorite activity to see who’s wearing what to NYFW, and hopefully one day I can go in person and see for myself.
