A Glimpse of Post Quarantine Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Although you might not be able to tell if you watch the news these days, the world is, in fact, a good place.  This quarantine is enough to prove that as people have moved mountains to help and show appreciation for one another.  We get lost thinking that the world is all doom and gloom. However, if you log onto any social media or tune into John Krasinski’s news show, “Some Good News” you can see the love for one another.  This love for humankind that was seemingly lost has been rectified. This time should be taken to practice bringing this back into the world once this is over.

I was inspired to write this because I read an article by Julio Vincent Gambuto entitled, “Prepare for The Ultimate Gaslighting”.  He talked about a lot of things but the one thing that stood out to me was how he called this “The Great Pause”. He used this metaphor to enforce the idea that this is our time to take time to reinvent what we want to bring back in our lives.  The concept of looking at this with such a positive perspective is so beneficial because we can bring in these more positive attributes.

Many times people want to reinvent themselves, and we always wish we could transform society- well, this is the perfect opportunity.  We as a society have been taking this terrible thing and have turned to each other and done whatever we can to lift each other up. We can bring all this positivity and compassion to post-quarantine life.  Being an ally for each other and speaking up against injustice, continuing to respect essential workers, and just being a good person can truly transform society. It starts with one person, and then it becomes a new way of life.

This quarantine has been a lesson to us all.  We took many things for granted, and I feel like many of us will cherish the community we have as a society.  We have really gotten a gift, and we can take this gift and finally focus on the good.
