I Tried Lush’s New Shampoo Bar and Here’s What Happened

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Some people have lots of pets, some people have lot of cars, some people have lots of friends. I have a lot of shampoo.

First of all, you should know that I certainly consider myself a shampoo connoisseur. I’ve never dyed my hair or done anything dramatic with it, but at any given time, I have about five different brands of shampoo in my shower. After all, variety is the spice of life.

When I first heard that Lush (one of my personal favorite brands) had released a shampoo in a bar-form, I was definitely skeptical, but wanted to give it a try. Not only was it environmentally-friendly, but it looked adorable too!

My Shampoo requirements:

  • It must have a lovely, clean scent

  • It must foam up (I don’t know what it is about foam, but when a shampoo doesn’t foam up, I just can’t stand it)

  • It must be reasonably priced

  • It must give my hair volume/bounce

The Lush shampoo bar comes in 14 different scents/varieties. Some are made for dry hair, others for damaged, others for oily hair, etc. They range from $10.95 – $12.95.

After talking to a Lush employee about my hair type, and explaining that I definitely love a shampoo that can give my hair volume, she recommended the “Seanik” shampoo bar. I not only loved the blue color of this shampoo bar, but I also loved that all of the ingredients were things I knew and could pronounce.

Still skeptical and reluctant to give up my traditional bottled shampoo, I let it sit in my shower for a while.

Finally, two weeks ago, I decided to give it a go.

IT. WAS. AMAZING.

Not only did the shampoo meet all of my requirements, it even exceeded them. It foamed up nicely, gave me volume, smelt lovely and appears to last much, much longer then a bottled shampoo. I definitely won’t need to replace it anytime soon.

I definitely recommend giving it a go! Plus, for $3.95, you can get a little tin to keep it in which is definitely helpful when you live in a dorm and use a shower caddy.
