What clubs/organizations are you involved in on campus?
I am the Grand Master (President) of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. I was initiated in the fall of 2013, and I began my term as President in the spring of 2014. I am also the Public Relations Liaison for the SHU Democrats. In addition, I was selected to be a delegate for the Guatemala Service Trip over Spring Break in 2015.
Â
What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming spring semester?
I am really looking forward to my spring break service trip. The experience should be unforgettable considering I have never traveled to that part of the world. I really wanted to go on a service trip because I love helping people. A future goal of mine is to volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps. The service trip will enable me to gain some experience with helping others abroad.
Â
With being so involved on campus, how do you manage your time?
Time management has certainly become a huge part of my life. My fraternity has helped me manage my time better by prioritizing what is important. I’ve become involved with organizations that I find close to my personality and heart, so I don’t view my time commitment as “work” or “stressful.” In a way, I view them as recreational and fun.
Â
What has been the most memorable moment here at Sacred Heart thus far?
My most memorable experience at Sacred Heart would have to be my initiation into Kappa Sigma and becoming President. It was the culmination of all of my hard work I put into becoming a member and all of the great connections I made with my brothers that brought me there. I had only been a member of the fraternity for half a semester when I was elected. It meant a lot knowing that they bestowed a high honor in electing me as President at such an early stage.
Â
Is there something that we should know about you that we don’t already (fun fact or special talent)?
I am huge on my faith values here at SHU. I try to attend mass every Sunday, and I want to get more involved with campus ministry. Another fun fact is that I am a transfer student. I transferred here after my freshman year at Molloy College on Long Island.
Â
Where do you see your professional life going in the next few years?
In the next few years, I hope to be volunteering abroad in the Peace Corps. I want to spend two years abroad volunteering. I also want to be a social worker for children or women who are victims of crime.Â
