The Struggles of Being a New York Mets Fan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Growing up in New Jersey, there is always more than one option when it comes to which sports team you support since New York has two teams for every major sport. I grew up in a sports loving household where no matter which season, there was always a sports game on. The one sport that my father, sister and I always get excited for is baseball and the team that is on our TV screen is the New York Mets. The Mets have been the underdogs of MLB for quite some time now, but that has never stopped us from supporting our team. If you are also a Mets fan, you can probably relate to some of these struggles:

1. The look people give you when you say you’re a Mets fan

2. Even in 2015 when they MADE IT TO THE WORLD SERIES

I mean, c’mon people really? You couldn’t have let it go for ONE season.

3. Being surrounded by obnoxious Yankee fans everywhere I go

4. When they get your hopes up just to crush them all over again

5. But at the end of the day, you’re proud to be a Mets fan no matter what anyone says
