Her Campus became one of the very first organizations I joined in my first year in college. Seeing how this organization grew from a small writing club to a group of women empowerment all across the several chapters of HC has been incredible. This group holds an important significance because of the mark it has left in what I studied throughout my four years and what I would like to possibly pursue in the future. For that reason, Her Campus will forever hold a place in my heart.
Being a first year student and given more than 50 organizations to choose from and become a part of is overwhelming. As a first year student my mindset was simply looking for organizations that only suited my major or what I had joined during my years in high school. With Her Campus, that was not quite the case. It was very different from what other organizations had to offer that I became a part of. Writing became a way for me to express different ideas and opinions to share on such a huge platform. I also received the opportunity to learn from other articles published on the site. I was able to interpret and question different readings whether it was on entertainment, culture, health, or lifestyle.Â
Being on the executive board for this chapter for the past two years has been a dream. I think the best part is getting to work with different groups of individuals and seeing the ideas we had from the beginning become a success each semester. The leadership skills that I have gained, I was able to take and utilize throughout the internships, jobs and organizations I worked within. It taught me an important lesson that no matter the person, Her Campus is here to give us a voice through our writing and is able to support us by being a part of a special chapter.Â
Thank you Her Campus for these last few years.
