This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.
If you couldn’t tell, this article is sparked from an extremely specific event that is ongoing. These are in no particular order but every single one was featured in a slight mental breakdown my roommates and I had this past Wednesday evening. :)
- Any and every Adele song, but specifically for these intents and purposes: “Someone Like You” – Adele
- They really tug at the heartstrings, that’s all I have to say.
- “All I Want” – Olivia Rodrigo
- “Stay” – Rihanna
- If you haven’t had a moment with this song, grab your earbuds and a chair and get ready from the most intense 4 minutes and 1 second of your life.
- “When I Was Your Man” – Bruno Mars
- I think I’ve permanently damaged a vocal cord or two because of this song.
- “Skinny Love” – Bon Iver
- A true mark of maturity is switching from the Birdy version to the Bon Iver version.
- “Iris” – the Goo Goo Dolls
- If God had another child (because God is a woman), it would be this song.
- “Riptide” – Vance Joy
- A visceral experience.
- “Need You Now” – Lady A
- Do I need to go further?
- “Drops of Jupiter” – Train
- A classic. This brings me back to summer bonfires, sticky s’mores, and that comfortable warmth of contentment.
- “Little Lion Man” – Mumford & Sons
- Every time I hear this song, I must aggressively text the lyrics in all caps to my roommates. It’s just bonding at this point.
Honorable Mentions:
- For my Taylor Swift fans: “All Too Well Ten-Minute Version”
- Self-explanatory.
- “Hey There Delilah” – Plain White T’s
- Again, simply iconic. Throws me back to the best part of childhood.
- “Take Me to Church” – Hozier
- For all my little gay babies out there, I know this song hits different. Scream it, cry it, absorb the beauty of every lyric, we’ve all done it.
- “I Will Wait” – Mumford & Sons
- Mumford & Sons is the soundtrack to my life, if you couldn’t tell.
- “Be Alright” – Dean Lewis
- Will probably make you cry on the bathroom floor, but she hits different.
