26 Things You Experience When Pulling An All-Nighter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.
UNFORTUNATELY, we have all been there. You know that you have a huge paper due, but you procrastinate and procrastinate until finally….it’s due tomorrow. Here’s how that night typically goes.

1- You head to the library, procrastinate for a bit, but then actually start to buckle down around 11PM.

2- Even though you’ve had a solid start to this paper, you accept the fact that you’re going to be up all night. But you’re up for the challenge.

3- You get one last cup of free coffee from the coffee machine upstairs before heading down to the dungeon that is Trumper.

4- You feel some solidarity amongst your fellow Belles that are also about to pull all-nighters.

5- You start to seriously regret starting your paper the night before it’s due….again.

6- From here on out, you frequently look up at the clock and feel like the hours just keep passing by.

7- You experience jealousy/hatred towards the girls who finish their work and leave earlier than you.

8- Your multiple trips to the vending machines throughout the night also serve as a procrastination tool.

9- When taking trips to the bathroom, you may be legitimately afraid of your reflection in the mirror.

10- You may work for a little bit but then… procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate.

11- You finally have the sad realization that you are one of the few people left on Facebook.

12- You aren’t too pleased that it’s too late to have any food delivered or make a trip to Cybs.

13- When the janitor shows up, you realize that you are the only student left in the building.

14- You start to daydream about sleep & miss your warm bed terribly.

15- The dozing off is endless.

16- You seriously need someone to slap you to keep you up.

17- You start daydreaming about breakfast, but then realize you still have to wait another three hours before the dining hall opens.

18- You stare at your sad page count & want it to miraculously increase.

19- But then, you somehow manage to finally rally yourself & are cruising along.

20- You realize that all of a sudden, your paper is due in an hour & you go into lockdown mode.

21- And finally, you somehow manage to finish up just in time.

22- After quickly reading it over once, you are actually pretty pleased with your work.

23- You print that baby out & realize that you only left yourself two minutes to sprint it to class.

24- You finally go outside into the sunshine & feel a bit like a vampire.

25- You hand in your masterpiece, manage to stay (somewhat) awake during class, & then finally reunite with your bed for a well-deserved nap.

26- Congrats! You survived your all-nighter.
