When I think about Saint Mary’s I think of sisterhood. Family. Tradition. T-shirts that tell me I’m going to discover myself and my place in the world. I think of something bigger than myself. A network of alumnae who will never cease to call the Avenue home. I think of professors who challenge and encourage. I think of growing up, and how much I have come into myself over the last three and a quarter years. I think of the 4th floor of LeMans Hall and the memories we’ve made. I think of Saint Mary’s and I am content. I’m privileged to consider this place as more than just a four year journey, but a lifelong connection to the campus that changed me.
Sisterhood. Family. Tradition.
With the inauguration of our 12th President, Jan Cervelli, swiftly approaching, Saint Mary’s is calling us to participate in the historical moment for the college. As seniors, we will be able to wear our cap and gowns and process in with delegates from other women’s colleges, peer institutions, faculty, and members of the College community, and, most importantly, welcome President Cervelli home as she delivers her inaugural address. It’s a special moment for Saint Mary’s. For this sisterhood. For this family. For this tradition.
I hope you’ll consider joining us on November 12th. The schedule of events for the inauguration are as follows:
9 AM: Mass at Church of Our Lady of Loretto
1:30 PM: Inauguration Ceremony of Janice A. Cervelli in O’Laughlin Auditorium
Reception immediately following the ceremony in Cushwa-Leighton Library.
***Registration to process in the ceremony closes this Friday, September 30th.
Be a part of history as we stand with President Cervelli, a strong leader who will help shape the future of Saint Mary’s College. The place that’s bigger than you. The place that promised you discovery of the universe and your place in it. The place that brought you to your best self, your life’s passion, and the best friend’s along the way. The place we’re lucky enough to call home.
