Why I March:
The answer is simple. Yet apparently not so simple.
On Saturday, January 21, 2017 I attended the Women’s March in downtown South Bend, Indiana. And what a beautiful day it was.
I march because I believe in change.
I march for the younger generation. I march for the older generation. And I march for my generation. I march for all women.
I march because I don’t want my younger cousins to think the words our President uses are normal or okay. They are not.
I march because my mom, my aunts, my cousins, my friends, and myself deserve equal pay for equal work.
I march to shatter glass ceilings.
I march for the women that were told they can’t.
I march to break stereotypes. Because yeah, I fight like a girl.
I march for my sisters across the world who don’t have the rights I do.
I march for the hopeless.
I march for the underrepresented and the silenced.
I march for respect.
I march to empower other women.
I march because all women are powerful and valuable. And they should know that.
I march to build bridges. Not walls.
I march for equal rights for all.
I march because I am a woman.
So I guess it is pretty simple.
I am proud that I marched and I am proud to be a woman.
