5 Reasons Being Single on Valentine’s Day Can Be Great

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Salisbury chapter.

If you’ve ever been single around Valentine’s Day, you know how hard (or annoying) it can feel. The constant bombardment of Valentine’s items that seem to want to remind you that you’ll die alone can be overwhelming. Well I’m here to say fuck that. Listed below are five reasons being single for the holiday might be the best thing that’s happened to you in awhile.

1. You don’t have to stress about making plans

Valentine’s Day brings pressure to a relationship like no other. Somehow, all the expectations we have for a relationship are all thrown into a single day. This means making reservations weeks in advance or planning a big gesture. Instead, you can do something simple like going out to lunch with your friends or just staying home alone.

2. You can spend money on things YOU enjoy.

Instead of buying candy or presents for your significant other, you can spend that money on whatever you want: going to the movies, new clothing, or on nothing. The point is, you don’t have to stress about whether you’re showing how much you like someone with a gift they might not enjoy.

3. There’s no disappointment waiting for you.

With all the hype around Valentine’s Day, it can be sort of a let-down when you or your significant other don’t meet each other’s expectations. When you’re single on Valentine’s Day, the only one that can let you down is yourself. So go live it up and treat yourself.

4. You can still have a hot night.

This really should be at the top of list because orgasms are great any day of the year. Being single does NOT mean you can’t have an enjoyable night. Sure some things are better in twos but going solo means you’re highly likely to hit all the right spots. Plus there’s just so many benefits!

5. You can do whatever the hell you want.

In case it hasn’t been clear, you can let the day be “just another day”, or it can be your version of anti-love day. However you choose to spend it, it should be about making yourself happy.
