Wendy Williams Returning to Daytime…Is it Real?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Salisbury chapter.

As a fan of Wendy Williams, I will have to admit the past few months have not been the same without the self-proclaimed “straight-shooter” talk show host. The Wendy Williams show went on hiatus for the holidays back in December 2018 leaving us on a less-than cheery note with Williams’ hairline fracture. Allegedly the talk show host acquired a hairline fracture on her shoulder thus causing her to self-medicate, furthermore causing slurred speech during her interviews. Wendy audiences were hoping for a speedy recovery and a return on her promised date of January 14, 2019.

As January rolled around, Wendy pushed back her date of return to daytime television many times. This delay was caused, allegedly, by Williams’ Graves’ disease which affects the thyroid and many other bodily functions. Initially during the delay Fox Network aired repeat episodes, however another postponing of Wendy’s 2019 premiere brought new episodes, hot topics, and a panel of celebrity guests. The new, temporary hosts of the show include Nick Cannon, Don Lemon, Gary Owen, Keke Palmer, Sherri Shepherd, and many more.

Throughout Wendy’s leave, many gossip blogs wrote  saying that Williams is having marital issues on top of her fluctuating health. I hope that Wendy is safe, happy, and stable in her environment at home and that she returns as her funny, bubbly self that we all know her to be.

We also have to wonder with so many push backs to Wendy’s premiere date can we believe the announcement of her return on March 4, 2019? I sure hope so!
